Built in Brisbane by respected boat builders Milkraft in 1976 for Keith Williams, SEA BREEZE was originally called ULYSSES in line with Mr Williams custom of naming his boats after characters in Greek mythology. Approximately two years later Keith Williams was finally persuaded by Queensland industrialist Sir Leslie Thiess to sell the vessel to him and the Thiess family then cruised her extensively for several years. In 1994 as Sir Leslie had passed away ULYSSES was placed on the market by his estate and was subsequently sold to a successful New Zealand business man for use as their family motor yacht. Prior to taking ULYSSES back to New Zealand Lloyds Ships Holdings, Brisbane were commissioned to carry out an extensive refit which included lengthening the boat to her present 30.48 metres, adding a cockpit and fly bridge together with a total interior refurbishment. At the same time all plumbing electronics and electrical systems were either reconditioned or renewed and ULYSSES was painted externally. Total cost of this work was in the area of $1.6 million.
ULYSSES then travelled to New Zealand and remained there until her return to Australia as SEA BREEZE in 1999 as her owners were building a much larger replacement vessel and wanted to retain the ULYSSES name. SEA BREEZE cruised Queensland and New South Wales waters during her New Zealand owners frequent visits to Australia until she was sold to the current owners in 2008. Under the present ownership SEA BREEZE recently completed a comprehensive refit to bring her up to her current excellent condition. Total cost of this work was also in the vicinity of $1.6 million. The current owners have done several cruises, including to the Kimberlys, and point out what an excellent seaworthy craft it is. SEA BREEZE represents the best in Australian craftsmanship, her classic lines will never date and with normal regular maintenance she will provide many years of comfortable, safe cruising for those lucky enough to own her. At Geoff Lovett International Pty. Ltd. our association with ULYSSES/SEA BREEZE started when we acted for the Thiess estate in 1994 with the sale to New Zealand and continued with the sale to the current owners. We are proud to be associated with such a prestigious motor yacht and look forward to selling her for a third time on behalf of the current owners.
